Default Photos: Giant mako caught off San Diego

Check out these photos of some computer programmer from Seattle fighting an 11-foot-long, 600-pound mako shark on a fly rod off the coast of San Diego. The guy hooked the fish on a red/white streamer after it attacked the boat he was chumming from.

Bigger Makos Begin to develop triangular teeth much like those of a smaller GW.

Thumbs up Jump Shot

Thats a hell of a jump shot you got there mister Can't imagine
purposely hooking a fish like that on a fly rod, had to be a punishing fight. Thanks for the cool post and pics

Nice jumps on that Mako. I had a lost opportunity to land one during my last Swordy Tourny in WPB. Great fight!! Dont now why you would want to catch one like that on a fly but better your back than mine haha.

The color of the fish and the shape of the teeth give it a sort of a "longfin" mako look.

Great fish either way.
