You want your leaders at least twice the length of the shark you are targeting. If you are targeting BIG sharks from the beach, 30ft leader. - Jeff

Yeah,

Thats a little longer then I make'em but sounds good. I make a wind on leader of 400lb test about 15 feet long to a swivel. Then Singal strand wire to a f'in mong'o hook. Sharpen your hooks! and color the tip with a majic marker.

PS
I'm not surf fishing so forget everthing I just said.

that rig is made for shark fishing....you are able to use a really long leader while being able to cast it really far

Man that leader wouldn't hold up, that mono would get bit through so damn fast, those swivels would go in like 5 seconds if u hook up with a big BT or different shark thats aggressive.

Here's a picture of a rig that i made, this one is guranteed to catch sharks.

The only thing ive changed in my leader design is heavier cable, i dont use any cable under 480lb. I've had sharks bite through every cable size offered under that. I have yet to have a shark bite through 480lb. Change the 250lb cable to 480lb.
You dont need the leaders twice as long as the fish you are targeting, thats jut a waste on money!!! I catch 6-7ft sharks on 5ft leaders. Use PowerPro line, minimum of 65lb test and you can ctach anything out there. Dont use mono, unless you wanna lose a lot of leaders.

Use owner hooks, i've tested every brand of hooks and they have all failed and broke, except owner hooks, they cost a lot more than any other brand, but they wor and catch fish!!
