Default Sharks in Southwest FL

Hey all,

I have been night fishing some of the bays lately chumming and using mulet for bait.

We have not been having much luck other than some large sail cats, and an occasional tarpon hit. Last summer I did land a 7.5 foot Nurse Shark using this method, but not hit anything in probably 12 trips in the last few months.

I am not sure if the methods I am using is wrong, or maybe the location/tide.

Any help would be awesome!

Can you get your hands on kingfish, Jack, or bonita? Mullet are ok in my opinion, but i prefer a more oily fish with the bite is slow.

Good Luck

You would have more luck on a consistant basis if you skipped the bay and fished either the jetty or surf. - Jeff

I would recomened getting out of the bays and on the beaches. Spring and Fall all thru the tarpon migration. The Northwest wind always seems to be the best set up. 14 ft of water 2-300 yards just off the Beach. Hint, V,bilt.
