your set-up should be fine for sharks to 6', if you can cast it far enough that is. if you are yaking baits, you may want to get a heavier
rod, as you may hook up w/ spmething bigger. if i were you i would
put a 65# power pro backer under the big game. it will get you more line cap. w/o losing the "shock absorbing" ability. just my thoughts.

if you want to use dacron i would try a lighter test,
maybe 80# to get the dia. down. the purpose
of the backer is to pack as much line on your reel as possible.
i use power pro 65# (16# dia) on my small (4/0) penns to nearly
double the line cap. if u do put on a backer dacron or other,
i would use a short (couple wraps) mono backer under it to keep the
braided line from slipping on the reel spool. just my thoughts...

You don't want a 6ft rod.
you want a 12ft rod that can throw 4-10oz of weight.
I use a 12ft Tica XH 4-10oz rod.
I've caught most of my sharks on it.
You want a Penn 9500ss and you want to spool it with 65lb Power Pro. Top it off with 100lb Power Pro.
