Default 2nd Annual Shorebound Shark Tourney

Shirt slogan Top:2nd FS South Shark Tourny
Bottom: Monsters of the Shore

Tourny will start June 1st and run until August 14

Three members per team.

There is no “entry fee”, tourney is 100% non-profit, any money, if any left from T-shirts will go towards more prizes.

Those putting the tourney together and the sponsors who have graciously helped us are in no way responsible for any bodily injury or death resulting from fishing the tourney. Must be 18 and older to fish it.

CATCH AND RELEASE TOURNY!!!

Range: All shorebound coasts of Florida. Those fishing the tourny must live somewhere between Miami and Stuart county. For those texas boyz thinking of coming over, we are trying to work something out for ya if enough of you decide to join the tourney.

All sharks must be caught from shore and all sharks MUST be released!!

Rules and Regs (subject to change as we work out the kinks)
Honor based tourny, any one thought to be cheating and posting old pics will be eliminated (keep your shirt and have a nice life ) NO PIC, NO POINTS PERIOD so don't forget your cameras.

Sharks must be caught from any land based structure ie. piers, bridges, beaches etc... All sharks must be CLEARLY photographed to count for points.

Points will be awarded per species with an additional 25pts awarded for beached pics.
There will be awards for biggest and second biggest shark of the tourney which will obviously only apply to beach caught fish. Fish MUST be measured from tip of nose to the fork (carefully) as accurately as possible. Fish will be rounded down to the nearest half foot. If we get two sharks of similar size, your picture will determine based on tourney member votes who gets the big fish award and who gets 2nd. So make sure your pics show the girth and mass of the fish.

Pic of shark will have secret item and measurement (except for bridge/pier entries), we will work out those details closer to tourney start day to avoid anyone from getting an early start!

Have to post all the members from your team from the get go, if someone catches a shark you are fishing with and they are not on your list that shark don't count.

Your team members can fish with others but only they are allowed on the rod. Landing a shark you can ask whoever the hell you want to help you, but no one else touches the rod but the member submitting the catch. Unless you hand off the rod to another TEAM member (ie a big azz shark you end up fighting for over 2hrs a break is always welcome )
Teams must have atleast one forum member to be a rep for the team. I need the names of those on your team ASAP

Any shark that can not be identified because of crappy pic, sorry no points.
There will be no photoshopping by myself to clear up your picture. Once you submit a picture that is your final picture and please do not try to re-enter it. So make sure you submit pics in which the shark is CLEARLY visible. If we have to guess at the species, or kinda looks like a, not gonna fly. We had our practice run last year so no excuses. For the new comers get with some of the guys that fished last year or IM me for tips on getting good pics (night keys pics are tough)

Any shark that looks deader than a door nail or any shark pic that looks like the shark was harmed more than needed will result in no points. Or a shark with gaff marks other than in the mouth. Try to keep em as damage free as possible. Anything over a certain size, don't beach it completly, just enough to keep its weight supported, but enough to get a good pic with out it swimming away. Anyone who continually posts pics of sharks with the excuse that it was dead by the time we got it in, will most likely get DQ from the tourny. Once, ok it happens, but if every third fish you land is dead, we will take a vote and boot you from the tourny. WE ARE NOT LOOKING TO KILL THEM, JUST PLAY WITH THEM FOR A SHORT TIME! This is strictly a CATCH AND RELEASE TOURNY, use your common sense, and hell if it means giving up some points, so be it. We need no macho men here that want to kill all the sharks they catch for a set of jaws. Takes more balls to get in the water and revive a shark than it does to drag it out and kill it. And remember you are doing so on your own, Team Pier-Bum and sponsors are not liable if you get your azz bit, hurt, or killed and I am serious about that, so be careful fellas, if you don't have experience beaching sharks get with folks who do before you start grabbing these pizzed off critters by the tail.

Litigator will be our official/unofficial weighmaster/fish ID guy

Go catch em up!!

TEAMS:
Team 3-14’s and a 12 Pier-Afficionado, BchBum, DPfisherman
Team Old Skool Sharkmn42 and the Machine
Team Rebel Zach and co.
Team Distance Jake in Jupiter, GOAT, Sabiking
Team Florida Penguin Reelaxing, Jeff, Rick
Team Turtle-Wetter Baitwetter, General Turtle
Team Surfrat Surfrat, blacktip hunter +1
Team Floridian Soul
Team Ghetto fish (if you guys are still in let me know)
Team Spearnfish
Team Steel Heads

I will add your team as I get confirmation from you with a team name.
Anyone with any other suggestions please send me an IM or email. Start getting your teams money collected for the shirts cuz the time is coming near boyz!!

If anyone is interested in donating something for prizes at the end we are more than open to your generous donations. Anything will help this tourny get off the ground and materialize Thanks in advance
If we have forgotten anything or you have any suggestions just drop me an IM or email.

These rules are not final, but close, and subject to change. There will be NO arguing among tourney members on any of our threads. No insulting, badgering, of any shorts of another team will be allowed. You don’t like a teams entry, IM me about but do not post on the public board as we have sponsors that have backed us with great prizes and will not allow anyone to make us look bad. I have spoken with moderators, creators and owners of all the websites we will be hosting on and believe me I can get your post banned, erased etc……. Everyone is expected to fish hard and most of all have fun doing what we love to do. Hopefully like Team Pier-Bum last year, you can learn a thing or two from other guys, and even make a few new friends along the way.

Must be 18 and over to fish the tournament!!

Again we are not responsible for any injury, damage to property, or even death that results from you fishing this tournament. By submitting your team and your team members you agree that each individual is of expected age and is aware of the risks involved in this type of fishing and are fishing this tournament on your own decision. There is no entry fee for the tourney, we are however making shirts for everyone in the tourney that will be a $25 donation to offset the cost of making the shirts. No other money will be collected, all the sponsors have supplied the prizes free of charge and have helped us make this second run more successful than last year and they have no liability like wise with anything resulting from this tournament. With all that said, the time is almost here!! Get ready to get it on!!!!

There is an idea  extra 5 points for every bather out of the water after hook up LOL. Most of the guys from last years tourney who are fishing this year fished pretty isolated areas where fishing from the beach is not frowned upon. Here is a list of people how have declared they will fish the tourney this year so far, expect the number to grow as the time gets closer. these participants are from four different sites, some members of all of them etc.... Trying to get some of the guys from here to fish with us. I unfortunately did not know of this site till recently. Gotta love a site with a Shark Forum!!!!

So far, and it is very early so I would imagine or expect probably another 5 teams or so, these are the people who have IM'ed me with their team tally. If you are not on the list send me an IM so I can update for your team. Looking good so far. I am still in the process of making the official entry/rule pages, if you have already signed up here and confirmed with me that is good enough and I will pass you over to the other page. The entry deadline will be posted on that thread as well. I hope to have it up by the end of march which gives us two months to have the shirts made by boldwater.

This is a team event, 3 players per team. Sharks are given points per species. Although last year it did not matter, we take size into consideration for the final standings. We will not let someone catch 100 small spinners under 100lbs and win the tourney. We expect like last year for everyone to fish hard and hopefully break a personal best. This year we are thinking of giving an award of sorts to the angler or team who catches the most impressive shark. The only sharks that do not count for points are nurse sharks. Have you seen some of the pics from last year??? Pretty bold coming on here asking what do I get for the biggest shark, there are several people in the tourney that only go big and there are alot of 14/0's in the arsenals of these individuals. 100%catch and release 100% shorebased fishing from piers, beaches and bridges. secret items must be in pic for fish to count for tourney. I will be posting the official rules as we get closer to the start of the tourney. What is your team name and how many members 2 or 3??

Pier-Afficionado,.... how about 75 Blacktips all over 100#s? LOL! Just kidding. You made an excellent point though, after all it really IS all about - breaking a personal best. Props again for all of your efforts and work.

Sounds great man. My brothers and I will be checking it out. If time and work don't get in the way we'd love to get in.

Cheers,

Bridges and piers are back in the game, we will be doing seperate prizes for angler with most caught pier/bridge fish. AS prizes for biggest and second biggest caught shark (only way to know who caught the biggest is to measure so that eliminates pier fishing for that prize) Overall champ will be based on points, like last year beach fish will count a bit more but not as much as last year. Spoke with mike and thinking about a 20-25pt spread. This year no bad pics will be excepted from the bridges or piers, need to see the secret item and need see the species. I know some guys did not have digital cameras or enough bright lights to get clear pics last year. But you have had a year to get some stuff together, and had one tourney to practice. Just like beach fishing, bridge fishing takes a team effort to get the big boyz to the surface for a pic. Its the only way to make it fair as I do not want to eliminate those who only fish bridges or piers (Dave has a valid point) or get them fishing a style they do no know or have the gear for. I will finalize the point system this week. Boundaries stand the same, any area in florida, and you have to live from Stuart to Key West. I would love to do a state wide thing but it is too late to do that and put together that type of monsterous tourney, but there is always next year.
