Default my first shark....

Well My 1st shark caught 3 weeks ago (4 nov 2005) is posted in the gallery under tiger sharks. Unfortunately, I boiled the jaw and that destroyed them. So I have no trophies of it, just pictures. But it is all there for you all to see. 7' - 8" total length. Sorry just over excited.

Yes, you can eat tiger shark. I think the meat tastes awesome. I prefer Mako tho. To cook, I let my tiger shark marinate in sweet and sour sauce then grill it. Let it marinate for 24 hours. Teraki sauce and ginger makes it taste good too. I caugth the shark off a pier at Hickam Air Force Base. It's the beginning of the channel leading into Pearl Harbor. Just a guess but I think the channel is like 120'+ ft deep. Subs go thru submerged so you can guess the depth.

Nice Tiger!
You can boil them for a max of 15 minutes on low.
If you over cook them they turn to mush.

There is really only one way to prepare a jaw and that is to cut all the meat off and then put them in a peroxide/water solution to soak. Then dry them out. Tigers are fragile and it helps to put them around a bucket or something to help them keep their shape.

Boiling, burying etc., isn't any good.

Hydrogen Peroxide (1 part HP to 3 parts water) is best, some prefer Bleach but the latter smells too much and is nasty. Remove Jaws, scape away flesh/meat, bath in solution (time varies on size), 35-45 min., remove - continue scraping away meat, repeat bathing and process a few more times. Before last bath cut away hard cartiledge on inside of Jaws protecting multiple rows (5-6) of teeth, if you don't it will smell.

When finished set with wire and/or sticks to desired shape and let dry, in and or out of sun for a few days.

After dried some coat with clear urethane, linseed oil etc., some don't coat at all.
