Mono backing is advisable to prevent the line from slipping. 65 lb power pro is the equivalent diameter of 16 lb mono. I dont think a 4/0 would hold 1500 yards of 16 lb mono -My guess (and I could be way off) is more like 800 to 1000 yards.
