Default This is it the next 202 trip

Will be on Sat March 10th

We will have the same great raffle with prizes like a 80wide,sword lights and all the other fun stuff. We will be raising some money for TBF again and I hope to have reps from FWC,TBF and NMFS on board with us as well.

There has been people wanting to help with things and all help and or donation will be greatly appreciated. If you want to help or donate some thing please call me 561-315-8881 or pm me as soon as you can. This trip is going to be taped and a DVD of the trip will be made

I would like this trip to be catered some how?I would like to keep the cost to around $250 to $400 for food and you must bring your own drinks.

Again if you are donating items or services please pm soon.

Next is the sign up there will be 40 spots open.

How you sign up is very easy.Sign up will start this Fri at 7:00 am.

It is first come first serve. You must send me a PM but not until Fri at 7:00am.

You will be notified by the following Monday if you made it.The reason for pms is they are day and time stamped If you missed the first trip and want to go you will have priority to first open spots if full.Same goes for guys that were on the last trip.

We will need at least 5 watermelons this time along with 5 sword bill and tails.we are going to make watermelon swords.

It may not have anything to do with things learned by some guys but looking through the 201 pics looks like the rouges gallery of the 200lb plus club I saw at least 10 guys in the 200lb and up club among the attendees of the last trip.I think it is just a good Karma thing supporting TBF and such.

The history (as I know it):

A few years ago CaptainMitch and Beerman started doing a little dog-n-pony show explaining swordfishing techniques to small groups of novice rec swordfishers. Eventually a bunch of folks got together at someone's house for the same type of thing, and it got nicknamed "Swordfishing: 101". It was a big hit, and at the next gathering it changed to "Swordfishing: 102" as kind-of a joke. Well, that name and the popularity of the event stuck... so in the Spring of 2006, Headfirst hosted a "103" gathering at his house in east Boca. I think there were 40+ in attendance including: Professor O with some scientific insight; Broadbill who demo'd his style of fishing and bait rigging; NickC with a squid rigging demo; Obsession who explained several safety devices and EPIRB function; and several others talking about their varied techniques to catching and landing swords (Another Grand, FlatsfishB, Beerman, CaptMitch, etc.).

Needless to say, it was a LOT of fun for all, and a great way for many folks to meet for the first time.

In the Fall of 2006, with the start of Catch My Drift's sword trips, Quack Quack had the idea of hosting the next level of the "101" swording seminars at sea. Since it was a new version of the classic event, it was dubbed "Swordfishing: 201". The concept was to do hands-on demonstrations while actually swordfishing. Sponsors got involved which allowed for a raffle, and everyone was encouraged to join The Billfish Foundation too. The Fall seas were nasty, so the plan changed to a 4-hour ICW cruise. Of course, the demonstrations went on as-planned. The improvised "pumpkin 'pooning" was a riot. Imagine an 80-foot drift boat dancing around a pumpkin floating in the Intracoastal at 11pm!

Anyways, I hope that clears up any confusion about the 201 Trip. I vote this version be called "202".

There is some video somwhere on the site here of the pumpkin pooning.

It's a riot.

If you can't find it I will post the you-tube link for it.
