SFC Contest

I'm going to be running a monthly contest for swordfish starting either in December or January.

I'll have to review the best options for rules. But it will be mostly HONOR system

I'm thinking we go by the biggest fish in length/girth for a swordfish contest....We can then apply the formula to figure out the weight. This will avoid all the complications with using scales..

We would need clear shots of the length and girth.

We may go as far as having the fish photographed with a newspaper from current week.

I'm up for ideas, as I haven't really followed other tournament offered on the other fishing forums...

The winner will get the following grand prize:

Grand Prize:

- 1 Brand New Swordlight - Color Of Choice

*Shipped to the winner within the United States. Color subject to availability. www.swordlights.com

- 4 Windon Leaders From Reel Pro Shop - (JahMussa)

Looks great. I dont think the judges should be able to fish? Maybe have just 3 judges so the others can fish.

I dont think Darkside should be able to fish either He catches too many slobs!!!!

As a judge I will not be a direct winner. But if I fish with some one on there boat and they get a nice fish that fish should count. If not I could never fish with any one for fear of DQ.I will not judge a fish that I was involved with and if it is a close call we can put it up for debate.

I'm in to judge. I love keeping a sharp eye on what is happening while I am at school. I will only have one week around Christmas time when I can fish. I don't really care about winning, but if I catch a slob on Christmas Eve and you want to count it, that is fine too.

Good work Mike So heaviest fish length x girth method wins?

One thing I would maybe add. Take a measurement of the tail right where you would tail rope a fish. This will really tell whos fish is fatter, some fish have a good girth but get skinny quick!

Hey Mike, just my 2 cents, I think the HMS catch # should also be required. The idea being to get more people to report their catch.

I think that is a good idea NF.The # was to be posted after you get it from NMFS.

As an added clarification Rod and Reel only. This is open to guys in other states as well not just FL.They still must follow all the rules and such.

One more change... I think we should start this contest as of last night. We brought one in the boat pushing 250.

I have a question

Was wondering if the prize is for the crew and not angler this is a team sport when it comes down to it The reason why I ask is the winning fish could take hours to land and might take multiple anglers to fight the fish, and we all knows what happens when the end of the game comes it does take the whole crew to land the fish

Just a thought

I would hope the crew could sort that out between themselves.

You would think but I think it should go to the boat and let the Captain decide if it leaves the boat, they are the ones making the payments, just because you throw in some gas money, bait, beer, etc, etc, on a boat you fish on does not mean you should get the prize if you are lucky enough to be the one closest to the rod that gets slammed this is not like spliting tournament winnings or spliting up a fish that is caught.

This is coming from a non boat owner and I think this would be fair or am I reading too much into this ????
