Default Mercury K-plane trim tabs

I need 2 screw on caps for the trim tab fluid resevoir for Merc K-planes.
These yellow caps have a special "breather" design to avoid a hydraulic lock up on the resevoir.
Apparently these yellow caps will only last a couple of years before they get weak and crack. My mechanic said Merc will not sell the caps without the whole resevoir tank ($75 X 2). I only need the caps and will be damned if I am paying $150 for 2 resevoirs that will be thrown away.
Anyone have any info on finding the caps alone...or an alternate cap source that I can modify for this use.

Ray,
Have you checked with Flounder Pounder Marine up in Canaveral? They have all kinds of excess and obscure parts. (321) 868-1688

Those K planes suck. We have them on the venture. You can only source parts through a Mercury Racing shop. Super gay. Had to replace a motor, and now the other one is going. Expensive

Ray, Send me a pic and if you can check the thread pitch and diameter if it is a screw on type. Or the type that has ears that grab and twist 180 degrees and lock to the reservoir tank. More than likely they buy the cap from a oem supply company, especially parts for hydraulics. I can cross check my catalogs for you or may have it in stock from one of my machine parts. The "breather" for hydraulics is standard for systems that use the tank oil as a slave for the hydraulic oil to flow both ways and that the tank itself is not pressurized.

Went to my local Mercury dealer as KPlanes are proprietary to Mercury dealers only. They did not have a part # for the cap only...just the whole pump assembly . The dealer is "pretty sure ?" that the trim tab resevoir cap is the same as the remote trim/tilt resevoir for the Verado engines. At $4 each, I told him to order them up and we can verify the match up when they land.
If this doesn't work out, I will photo the cap and post it for Tackle Engineer to try a cyberspace match up. Preciate the offer for assistance TE, will let you know how we do.

Ray, Let me know if they cant help. One would think that they screwed up and forgot to add the cap as a separate part you can buy for the Kplanes. -TE

Just picked up thew caps this afternoon...perfect match. I guess Mercury is smart enough to use the same caps on the motor tilt/trim and trim tab resevoirs.
For anyone with K-planes, the part # is 36-865488A01 (CAP-OIL RESEVOIR).
Paid under $10 for both caps.
Special thanks to Vinnie at Complete Marine in Vero Beach.
