Question Sailfish rigs

I have read about the ilander/ballyhoo combo, does it work good? what size of ilander? Also will this rig work any where? Im doin some sailfishing in islamorada. Are there any other well-known rigs that i just dont know about?

Green Swordfish

From my knowledge and fishing with a buddy of mines that lives in Long Key he's been fishing sailfish for more than 10 years in the keys and what worked down there that's most effective has been live ballyhoo drifitng and bumping the motor in and out of gear in the current. I'm not saying that it's not possible to catch them on the lures because in the summer time when I'm there they have caught them on iilander lures w/o ballyhoo.

Use live ballyhoo, small hook in the lower jaw and a light (40 or 50lb) leader. Bump the boat in and out of gear along the color change at the edge of the reef. Go to a small local tackle shop (Outdoor World/Johnny Morris/BassPro doesn't qualify), spend a little money, and ask for more detailed local advice.
