Hey guys...long time lurker, first time poster.
I've been trolling bally hoo for Sailfish and my usual rig is a long 80 lb fluorocarbon leader crimped to an 8/0 J-hook pin rigged with a 3/8 oz. chin weight. I've been reading where these white marlin guys don't like using pin rigs for whites....is there a similar belief regarding Sails? Thanks in advance. |

The thought is that the pin rig might prick the fish's mouth causing the fish to drop the bait. Ive caught plenty of fish on pin rigs, but its just as quick and easy to rig a bally without the pin and why take the extra risk of a fish dropping the bait.
