Fished the Islamorada Sail Tourney this weekend. The fleet broke almost every record that the tourney had....most boats with ~50, most releases with 430 and most releases by a boat-27 on Contender One.
Alottttt of small sails this time of year and alot of bait showers up in shallow from 110-45 feet. Not great looking water and little to no N current. Ended up catching 11 out of 13 overall for the tournament with 5 fish coming from running showers in shallow. Lots of big ballyhoo on the patches but the smaller ones are there. if u can pick and choose get a good amount of small/mediums because of the smaller sails. With all the east wind it blew a good number of gaffer dolphin onto the edge so bring plenty of ice cause they're there along with more than enough kings to keep u busy changing out cut off baits. |
