Default Daughter's 1st Sailfish

Yesterday we set out on a family trip from Quepos aboard the Estrella de Mar. We were in search of Marlin and Sailfish for dad and mom, and maybe a little dorado for the kids.

We were 10 for 12 on sailfish, and missed a beautiful jumping blue marlin.

The kids didn't get a chance at a dorado so my 8 year daughter reeled in her first sailfish. Her dad held the rod (he was afraid she would loose it to the fish), but she did all the reeling.

She'll have to train some more before she go after her IGFA record, but it was a good start.

Congratulations to the young lady on her first sailfish. I hope that this is only the first of many more exciting trips for her. Taking the youngsters out fishing is the key to keeping this sport alive for future generations. Well done!!

DL,

Nothing better than seeing the kids eyes light up when you take them
fishing! No matter if it's a sail in the Pacific or a bluegill on a local pond. Nice job DAD!

Armando- I love what you did with the photo. Will be in touch for father's day gift.

Everyone else, thanks for your posts. Katie is very excited that people care that she caught a nice fish.
