Default Pac Bay vs. Flexcoat power wrappers?

I am in the market for a power wrapper, and would like to know if there are any advantages of one over the other? I also would like to know if anyone has purchased a complete rod kit from Mud Hole, and how the quality is? I eventually will start picking the parts individually, but would like to practice on the kits to get back in the hang of it. My current rods are all Dean Burley Customs, and I spent many hours in his shop throughout the 90's. Any help is appreciated.

I'm not going to start easy either, as I already have a 4 color 4-sided solid diamond in mind for the first pair.

Thanks for the replies.

Jim

I have the Pac Bay and it is a good wrapper. You can make your own wrapper ALOT cheaper and it will come out twice as nice and way more functional than the ones that you can buy. Several companies sell motors or you can rip one off an old sewing machine.

What happened to Mr. Burley, I went in there a bunch of times over the years and it was always an experience. He does build some nice sticks, thats for sure. Does the shop no longer exist?

AG, I have been looking on e-bay for the motors, and you can get them for like $40 including shipping. The other major costs I guess would only be a drying motor, and that fancy three jawed chuck if I decided to go that way.

As far as Burley goes, I lost touch with them when they moved out of the warehouse over there by the executive airport. I used to work two blocks away, and would stop in after work pretty much every day. Steve Osmond that works at Boyle's builds a bad azz rod too. I have been friends with him since the early TR Tackle days back in the 80's and 90's. He worked at Burley's for a while too. It is just a long drive from Davie to Deerfield to say hey to them. I usually stop by though when we take Todd's(Pushbutton2) boat out of Boca.

I think I may just go the build my own way.

See you at the JD party tomorrow.

Jim
