Default Need Help building a Sword Rod!

I need to build a buddy of mine a sword rod and was wondering what you guys think. We fish out of Long Island New York and hit the NE Canyons. I'd like to think most of the rods we currently have will get the job done however I'd really like to build a rod specifically for swords. I was thinking of a Calstar 6455XXH with a #2 short bent butt, and Aftco Wind-Ons. As far as length goes I really will have to play with the guides to determine the layout but was hoping to end up with something around 5'8". The Reel he wants to use is an Avet 50w with 130JB and a 100ft Topshot of 150.

Will WindOns be fine or should I use the BigFoot Guides?

I would be really interested to know your thoughts / Opinions on this Set-Up

Note: We will be fishing from a 30' boat with twin I/O's, Stand Up, and we don't deep drop "Yet"

Im kinda new to swordfishing but Ive been building rods a long time. Since I dont think you really need all rollers for this type fishing I just built a rod with one stripper guide (Aftco wind on) the rest regular Fuji ceramics (leaning toward the larger sizes especially near the tip for wind-on clearance) and a wind-on roller (most important)
In fact the only reason I even put the roller stipper guide was that when I taped on a Fuji for the first gudie and ran the line to it the line angle coming off the top of a full 50W down to it was way too steep. The taller roller provides a much straighter angle to pull th eline off the reel. Im still looking for the right blank. Kinda hard to tell without actually holding it in your hand.
Keep us updated on your project.
