Default Suggestions for offshore fishing/gulf stream fishing REELS??

Does anyone have any suggestions for a FISHING REEL that can handle gulf stream fishing or off shore fishing. I'm looking to catch groupers, seabass, etc...

Butch you could have sold him that 50w at a hell of a deal
remember the one that you should have saved from the burning boat

like Cpt Shane said Tld's 20's are a good average reel for our area really depends what your funds are like ???? you could step up to a alum frame reel

i happen to prefer Avets but you'll hear 87.3 different opinions on reels

tight lines

Right on. I knew I'd never live that one down. It was AN 80W, but who's counting. Actually I've got a 30 international on a trolling rod I'm lookin to sell, and a 50w Shimano tlrs, packed w 150lb JB, and a 200yd top shot of 100lb momoi. Also one 6500 shimano bait runner just serviced. All used but in good working condition. Lookin to upgrade to an 80w alutec, although I'm a little torn between that and the avet trx ( 100lbs of drag!!! ). The tld's are great for live baiting and trollin, but the drags won't hold up to alot of bottom fishin. I have a pair of 25's I'll probably never get rid of. Just have em serviced once a year and they keep on truckin.

not much in these water you can't catch with a TLD! I sailfished in pro tourneys for years and never broke out the golds. Even caught a blue right off stuart on 20 # with 50 # leader...just takes someone who can use a drag properly and manuver the boat!
