Default Penn GLD-50II

:?: Anybody have any input on the Penn Graphite GLD-50 two-speed reels. Line capacity should be no problem at all with power-pro backing and top-shot of 60 diamond. Gear shifting seems to work real-nice. Purchase of rod/reel combo's approaches and I like the idea that they are made in America. (Call me a U.S.A. booster in my Diesel Ram and a twin Merc. powered boat...or maybe just a Redneck!!!)

I like the TLD 50 lrs 2 speed. It holds more line, and also has rachets on the drag lever. I think the penn does not?

I would fish one for the right price, but prefer the shimano.

Also, you will want gold soon enough, so if it is a option just get the international now!

TLD 50 doesn't have a rachet drag either....

I like the reel, but think the TLD feels a little more solid. If you can get one cheaper than a TLD 50, go for it!

But IMO, ya gotta go with the gold.

I'd fish Penn reels if I liked sticky drag. I fish Shimano.

I've just had bad luck with the tld 15's and all their inshore reels(even stellas). I've heard the Tiagra aren't thing like the other shimanos and are bullet proof.

The Avets just look gansta

I don't fish TLD's except the tiny little ones for kings. I fish Tiagras and my drags are super smooth and the reel doesn't fall apart.
