Thanks for all of that good feedback and explanation of your angling style. Again, your style is a little different from several I have seen. It sounds simply effective and fast to rig up. I like your all tip line approach for fast setup and recovery. I guess since they are usually the most active you've got it covered. But I am sticking to the big spread preference.

Yeah, SouthPort is a popular hang-out for late night mumbly-stumbly sailors and captains alike. You must have just hit a quiet night.

Right now I am using the "Ray Rosher Style" for weight and jug deployment. Capt. Bouncer is about the same, except he does not have captive loops for his weight and bobber presets. I like this style because you keep the weights and the jugs. Because the weight is so far back, 40-60 ft. or more if you prefer, the fish has more time to taste his snack before sensing the weight's presence, in many cases. Plus, at that distance the weight is less of a factor for loosening up the hookset. Using the longline clips to attach both also makes it a snap to remove them on the re-wind, although a third hand is generally required.

I look forward to meeting you at some point. Are you fishing the DSOM II tourney? I'm going to Bonefish Mac's tonight but I am not yet a signed up angler. My boat is too slow for me to be captain but I am fishing to be a teammate on someone's boat. Maybe I get lucky tonight and sign-up with someone.

As for my Miami friend, I will not force him to do anything. But his eyes sure do light up when I show him pictures of holding swordfish. So I know he would like to do it. Besides I want to see Joe's style, especially since I missed the boat or an opportunity when he was out with FinalPoint on the northern grounds a while back.

Right now gearing up for a marlin trip out of Punta de Mita so not going to DSOM. If Ray's style is working for you, by all means fish it that way. Back in the 70s we'd fish 12'0s in free spool with giant squids, drop back forever and set up like a bass fisherman. It is effective technique but you are gut-hooking the fish. Not very conducive to a healthy release.

As you do it longer you'll find yourself tweaking even the way guys like Ray and Bouncer do it. It's simply a matter of finding a style that produces that you feel comfortable with.
