Question: What is the best way to splice 130lb JB to my 200lb top shot. Just picked up a 50W, spooled up with 60lb mono. Changing the line out to 130 JB tonight, need some help with the splice.

Bit the bullet and had the boys at the tackle store to splice it for me. Got them to let me watch though, so I think I can do it next time.

You should definatly talk to Tek at reel pro shop and invest in the Sato's Crimp Kit. It makes splicing the topshot a breeze and is VERY reliable. I highly recommend it.

I've been meaning to take a trip down there anyhow. Want to purchase a line counter as well. Sato's crimp kit. Will be picking one up.

If anyone knows JB its definatly Tek, he will teach you how to do it right and sell you everything you need to do it. Its worth every penny- I have lost topshots and been able to whip out the kit and splice on the topshot right there on the water, and i know i can trust the connection.

Check out BHP tackle. They make a top shot with spectra on it and the main line has a loop created in it so all you have to do is a loop to loop conection. It takes about 30 seconds to put a new top shot on. bhptackle.com
