I came across some commercial fishing guys in pompano and they gave me 300 yds of 300lb test leader. the only thing its light blue not clear. These guys said they use all sorts of colors from orange to black for swords. Does color make a difference since were fishing at night or can the swords see it..

The most popular color for offshore longline leader is light blue. Although many who target yellowfins sware by smoke blue or gray. Some believe that clear mono acts as a light transmitter and are afraid that the fiber optic qualities of clear nylon mono make the leader more visible. I can say this for fact, plenty of swords are caught on clear line.
