Joining Spectra with Mono??

Hi All,

I'd like to join 150lbs Power Pro Solid Core Spectra with 80lbs Mono top shot, however aside from needing the strength in the knot, it needs to be able to pass through the rollers.

The spectra is considerably smaller than the mono, I was thinking of tying a Bimini Twist in each and then using the Loop to Loop joint, however the bimini seems to come out larger on the thick mono and its a no go.

Update: Tried with an Albright with lock, and it just about passes. Is this any good?

Is there a better way of doing this?

Also considered using a wind on leader on a couple of the rigs, have Momoi Diamond Flouro wind ons which have I think hollow core Dyneema or maybe Spectra already with a loop. Same problem with mono thickness and the wind on has a loop in it already.

I am about to try the Jerry Brown hollow core. You can splice the power pro to mon and have minimal change in diamater of the line. I believe it is going to be the way to go. I am working on the same issue myself.
