We have lost 2 sea-anchors in 4 trips
ops: , both have been Team Numark from Bass Pro Shops, it is sized up to match the boat fine and should not be having a problem. :-k I guess there is something wrong though considering we have lost 2 in 4 trips. ](*,) What other companies do you use and not have a problem ?? Because I know one thing, the next one will not be Team Numark.

What do you mean by "lost"?
I've had a "Sea anchor" for 4-5 years and no problems! My buddy had the BPS one and one night when we released a Pup and dang thing rammed it with it's bill and slashed it to shreads!!!

Para-tech makes a great product. If you want to trick it out, you can rig it with a float for the trip cord to keep it a few feet away from the chute. I've seen several top-notch billfish tournament fishermen setup that way and it looks like it works well. But you can also just use it right out of the bag and just adjust the trip cord carefully. If you are fishing and moving around a lot, you can simply lay it on deck. (openfisherman style boat). Then lay it out shoot first at your next drift location. All boats that go off shore (ie. past the inlet), should have a good one and appropriately size, like Paratech makes. Check out the link beow: http://www.landfallnavigation.com/paratechanchor.html . I would suggest a 15 footer for your vessel if it were only for emergency use. But multipurpose for fishing/safety device, the 12 ft. will suffice. (They are not cheap, and they won't let go due to wave forces. Don't know what to say about a swordfish slashing, other than to pull it out of the water when you get a hook-up, and stow it out of the way. For fishing purposes you can use 20-30 ft. of braided line, but for severe foul weather the chute should be way out there, so you can have at least a wave cycle or two between your vessel and the chute. Believe it or not the recommended distance is about 10x your vessel length, even more in nasty weather. |

we use this sea anchor for our 36 luhrs. It does the job and is it alot simpler to deploy than a big para-tech. we mainly use it to turn the bow and fish our lines of the side of the boat |
