instead of a rubber band i have been tying 30 pound mono loops onto the main line and this works like gold...i use two uni knots side by side with about 4 inch of mono in between which acts as the loop when the uni's are pulled together...this will not easily break at all nor will it slip if tied correctly and winds on much easier than rubber bands
