Default bathymetric charts

Does anyone know a source for bathymetric paper charts? I have looked pretty extensively online, but living in NC I dont have access to quality tackle shops like you guys do. I am coming down to the Keys for 4 weeks and really need a chart to supplement my plotter. If anyone knows of a place that carrys them in your area I can stop on my way through to the Keys next week. Thanks! Adam

I haven't seen a good one. There are plenty of sword charts around with numbers on them (that everyone in the world knows about). Good bath. charts seem to be hard to come by. There used to be a link on the NOAA site that had a few you could order, haven't looked at it for a while.

Default Have you tried home port charts?

Adam:

I am not sure what qualifies as a good bathymetric chart. It seems so common to me, but Home Port charts makes several for Florida: Lower keys, middle key, Swordchart (miami to Boca) and Pomano to Fort Pierce plus there is a Bahama view chart too. It looks like a good chart(s) to me.
Check out the website: http://www.homeportcharts.com/

I believe that the West Marine store in Marathon sells them, the tackle shop next to the Ace hardware in Big Pine Key too, and I believe any Boater's World, and (1200 N. Federal Highway Pompano Beach), plus others that I missed. I believe that the website lists the stocking dealers of these maps; although, they may be limited to the proximate area.

P.S. - If you happen to stop in Pompano at the end of the day and call me, I can show you a little hang-out place. The first drink or two is on me. PM for more details if interested. I have all 4 or 5 charts so in case they are in stock, I can hook you up with the one you need. But in that case you are buying.

Default Thanks!

Risktaker you scored a direct hit. I did endless variations of google searches and never once found that site. If my navionic bath chart chip gets here before I leave I am set, but thanks to you I will be ok either way. I dont see Pompano on my itinerary but what would the chance of you making Big Pine be? 4 weeks of jumping tarpon all night, snapping snappers all day, learning a new trick(deep jigging with metal), and hopefully a sword drift or two sound good to you? lemme know if it looks possible!..........Adam

Default Big Pine sounds fine, but Tuna is on my mind.

Adam:

It just so happens that my wife has a cousin that lives in Big Pine and we are always welcome to stay for a few days just about any time we make plans in advance.

Unfortunately, during this month of May, I have Tuna on my mind. So I am dreaming and focusing my attention Bahamas way, like Cat Cay or NW Channel and Bimini. Hoping to make two trips in 6 weeks span.

Stay in touch and pick another month for Big Pine Key and we may be able to hookup in the Keyes.

Just remember any time your are heading back to NC you will always pass right on through Pompano Beach. Could be a good place for a rest stop when your are embarking from Marathon on your way back home. RT

P.S. - Don't forget to get your dibs for a ration of some fresh stone crab. The season closes down, to refresh for the next season, right about the end of tourist season, mid-May.
