without a doubt Momoi Diamond. It is super hard and knots very well. Also, its breaks at a much higher test than normal mono giving it a very high strengh to diameter ratio, about 1.5x that of normal momoi mono.

50lb Diamond breaks @ 83lbs (.75mm)
60lb Diamond breaks @ 92lbs (.80mm)
80lb Diamond Breaks @ 122lbs (.90mm)

For a TLD50 I would recommend spooling with 50lb Diamond to give you the most line capacity, as the breaking strength of 83lbs is plenty. You will get close to 650yards of line.

If you are worried about line capacity you could maybe even move down to Diamond 40 which breaks at 68lbs and would give you a capactiy of closer to 790 yards or so if im doin the math right. But im not sure if i would risk it-- im sure others will chip in some opinions.

Good Luck

there has not been a comparable mono in the commercial industry to Momoi for more than 20 years. their recent advances in the sportfishing industry with diamond and illusion brand lines confirms that standard.

hi-liner fishing supplies in pompano beach is the sole distributer of diamond and illusion. they only sell to retailers but are happy to answer any questions about the line. ask for steve or john. 954-783-1320

i believe the Illusion line was made specifically for people chasing big fish on light line, such as world record marlin on like 8lb test etc. Not sure though...
