If you are close to my area (Delray/Boca)I'll do it for you. Just takes a few min.
What kind did you get? Brass or SS.

Default Sharpening Darts

Easiest way I found was a belt sander. If you try buy hand it takes
for-ever.

Dremel tool with the dart in a vice works.

Or like QQ said Dremel. Both work great.

It doesnt have to be razor sharp.

Sword flesh is as tough as a wet jelly-donut.

The only reason I keepem' razor sharp is in case I have to use it on a mako, but even then it's not that nessasary.

Default A real swordfish slayer

Broadbill-Pro a real slayer you are. You should be living at the top of the reef by now.

How often would you harpoon swordfish, compared to simply grabbing them with a gaff or two?

when i pass through those pearly gates and there is a swordfish or tuna in charge on the other side, I'M SCREWED!!

all fish that come up alive get harpooned, as well as free swimmers. 1 harpoon mid-ship and 1 on the stern ready all the time. most free swimmers only give you one chance, have to be ready. harpoon gets thrown many times during the haul back. not to say that every throw is successful.

spend more time sharpening hooks, don't worry about the poon.

Just Curious how much of the tip you guy's Sharpen for swordies ?

For Giant Bluefin i see lot's of people only sharpening the first 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch on the Tip

I guess the philosophy behind it is that if you do not Button hole the fish the dart make cut it's way back out on Hot fish

for sharks i like the hole tip sharp for clean cutting thru the skin

I prefer to sharpen the entire leading edge.

It seems to work well with giants & shark as well as swordies.

Flatsfish B,
When the weather finally clears, I would like to team up & do a SOUTHERN drift.
