You get what you pay for. Spend the Money and just get yourself a Poon set up. The weighted head also makes it great for throwing at some distance if you have to. Heard of Swordfishermen even Pooning fish that come up to their glow light. Definately a piece of equipment worth its weight in gold. You can always go practice at a neighbors pool that you don't like.

Where is the best place to stick a fish with a flying gaff?

Is there an area to avoid because it wont sink in or an area to avoid because it will rip out easy?
