Default Anyone BUY rigged squid?

By show on hands(or rather posts lol), does anyone on here buy rigged squid for swording?? Or do you rig them yourself.

I was just thinking rigging squid for a few forum members each week for a fair price may be good way for me to make a couple dollars :-k .

The only shop that I have and would buy rigged squid from is RJ Boyle Studios, but they are expensive. (Good tackle, squid, and trustworthy) Otherwise, I would rather rig them myself, and guarantee the terminal tackle and connections. Also, I am particular about leader and hooks. You might take custom orders from people who could drop off their rigs and you provide the rigging and squid? Good luck.

That's a good idea with the costum orders.
I use 9/0 LP hooks and 250lb Momio, but I'll rig with 12/0 LP's with 400lb if wanted

I ALWAYS sharpen my hooks too

Tek sells nice rigged squid. I don't buy squid rigged though. Not worth the money, plus I like it my own way. A lethal squid rig is an 11/0 or 12/0 stainless mustad with any leader you want - come on these fish aren't shy (though sometimes they don't eat). That hook is literally lethal though, so even if you get a 50 incher, it should go to the dinner table because those hooks don't rust out. Do not use a stainless hook if you are going for releases - likewise, do not fish them on every rod.

I used to get em from baitmasters down in miami, but after a swordy pulled the line through the crimp i started riggin myself i burn the end of the line so it mushrooms. never had a problem! now with those pre rigs you dont know what line you got or what hooks, its better to do it yourself to your specific needs. like bridiling the hook to the bait a certain way.

Nick good idea but not worth it. You couldn't do the volume to make any real cash. Also the first fish lost or a night with no bites people might blame the rigs  Then you would have to defend yourself. Not worth it anyway you look at it. I'm sure you are going to get your Capt licence when you can. Untill then try to pick up some jobs as a mate,do some time in the pit. You seem like a great kid and a great fisherman. You could also try to pick up some jobs takeing new people out on there own boats. It seems alot of people have all the epuipment and could use a little extra knowledge to catch that first fish. If you need any help give me a pm.

Showing people how to do Swordfish by going with them would be a good idea too...

Nick,

i wish i was in your shoes, im stuck on land in the middle of mississippi!

quack quack is right....Get that license! I took a course in lauderdale and did very well on my test, piece of cake! This would definatly help if you were trying to go out on other people's boats to teach them how to swordfish.

Not sure how old you are but you can go ahead and take the course and the test and then turn it all in the day your turn 18 i believe.

shoot me an IM at OleRebels41 if you want some details about the class i took, it was a lot of fun actually.

I will definaly be guiding inshore/flats from Vero to Islamorada the day I turn 18.

letsride, i agree. I am really grateful to the guys who first showed me how it's done (they are on here and they know who they are). Then RT, my brother and I started developing our own techniques. If people are willing to take you along to show them how it's done, you should go because it is great experience, but nobody should have to pay for advice.

Shark Tagger. Yes I could sell unrigged.... send me a PM or email.

Beerman and Swordslasher taught me how to rig when I first started. I don't rig the same as them now though.... Flatsfish B and I have been trying different hook placements and techniques and have finally come up with our own way.

I did ask Slasher and Beerman if this is alright with them...

I just thought this would be a good way for 16 year old, who puts most of his time out of school into studying/homework and the rest into fishing and rigging up for fishing, to make a few dollars.

Hey FP:

I bet you just can't wait and see, the new rig I have made up: it's called a Calabana Rig. It is part Calamari(Squid) and part Banana. It should blow ink rings around Capt. Mitch's Salami rig. By the way, I wonder if he got a swordfish on one yet?

It's marinated with a few of the Colonel's secret herbs and spices.
