THe tail rig is the best. Work a 10/0 hook into the tail and sew it up, then sew the mouth shut.
I'll try to take pictures for you if i get a chance. I found that if it is one of the nights when they are inhaling the baits pretty good.. just bridle the sucker and send it out. Good Luck |

ok here u go
cut from anal hole along cavity until to the peck fins stop before slicing through the bonney meat next fillet out back bone close to the bone same area from anal to peck fins like 3- 4" backbone leaving top bones intact and onlly removing the vertabera ( core it) then take ur leader through the cut area and pop it out through the lower jaw/ skin like gill area pull crimp up through exposed to section under jaw take wax pre tied above crimp go up through the bottom jaw back through the hole again securing the mouth closed wrap around sew crimp into slot tight to secure gills and continue to the bottom then go back up cross stiching and tie off above or below hook depends u can possition the hook any way u want if u fillet right and set it before u sew up . When you pre-tie wax u can use one long piece or tie it so u have two piecs of wax one for each side ending at the bottom as long as the head or tail is secured to the crimp and ur hook moves freely ur in the gold |

I have had good results on them without having to debone them. Using a long rigging needle go into axx with needle and bring it out the mouth. Put leader loop on needle and pull out through mouth. Put the eye of the hook in the axx and pull on leader. The hook should slip in nicely. You can leave hook there or sew it into place. Some people like it to hang out and
alot others like it tight thats up to you. Sew mouth shut with 12 to 18 inch piece of wax thread leave equal length tag ends. Braid tag ends around leader tightly. Every 4 or 5 times around leader put in 2 half hitchs. 7 or 8 times around should be fine. Pull on leader and make shure bait is being pulled by the mouth and not the hook, like a rigged bally. Good luck!

Cool, I'll give a couple of those methods a go. Hopefully I can snag a couple spanish inshore and practice on those. If anyone can post pictures, great! If not, I'll post pics of my results and let the pros steer me right.
