Default Can leader be used with success?

We use at least 250# test mono leader usually, but I was told 80# metal leader would work good if not better, does anyone have any experience in using metal leader compared to mono? Also this is kind of a dumb question, when swordfishing, if the boat is not turned off will this keep swordfish from coming up and hitting short baits (at 100 feet+)? Thanks, Brandon

You will probably pull hooks with metal leader because it doesn't have the stretch that mono does.

Swords are definetly not afraid of the engine/generator noise. They may even be curious ?

I wouldnt go with the single strand wire, but i know of people who do use 49 strand wire and make out well.

Ron Schapman spoke at the swordfish club meeting one night and he said he uses wire leaders for swordfish, and the extra fringe benifit was you would also bring in the makos that eat your baits.

I never tried using wire leaders for swords, I like my 250#-300# test mono leaders.
