Default Have a few resin questions

Hi everyone this is my first post here just found you today. I have been reading and searching here today and have had many of my questions answered but still have a couple that I didn't find answers for. I am wanting to start making my own trolling lures. I know its cheaper just to buy them but its just way more rewarding to catch them on something you made. I was wanting to know if anyone would like to share how they get the transparent coloring on the top of a resin trolling head? It looks as though it is dyed or painted on the ones I own as the color doesn't appear to be much past the surface. I found transparent pigments but what if I just want to have a portion of the head colored? If it is a paint or dye what product is it? And I know this may be a dumb question but the weight is just to keel the lure and the shape is what gives it action right? I make hand carved wood casting plugs and the weight can play a major roll in the action but wasnt sure if that holds true here as there is nothing buoyant with resin to help create action. Thank you in advance for all your help.

Keep in mind you're dragging it through the water at 7+ knots.

I do realize that. Working in a tackle shop for a lot of years taught me a few things. First there is no right or wrong way to fish. Second color is way down on the list of things that make fish bite. And third keep an open mind. I do appreciate your reply but I was talking to a buddy of mine last night who I found out has made them in the past and he pointed me in the right direction.
