It's time to come out of my cave and get with the kite fishing. What brand of kite do you guys recommend? There seems to be about 4 or 5 brands. Thanks.

we have them from x-lite to holly heavys... you'll get good at figureing wind after you have popped them up some. fish with someone a day who fishes with them first and you'll get to know what you want.

Just got some Frenzy Kites from Tek. Havent used them yet but he swears that they are as good as SFE and about half the price. Supposedly they fly in any wind conditions...

I used the Frenzy Kites in the Bob Lewis last year. I had 2 out at some times, and i tried one top gun and one frenzy to see how they did compared to the other. They both flew exactly the same. Sopposedly, the guy who puts out the frenzy Kites took the top gun and reproduced it in asia making it the same thing at half the price. I dont know that for a fact im just going on what I heard.... which usually turns out to be twisted some how. I personally like the top guns the best. I have become so accustomed to them I can fly them in almost any wind, or lack of wind!. With the top guns you can get used to ajusting one kite for almost any condition, where as the bob lewis, you need to know how to tweak 4 or 5 diffrent kites. I also have their extra heavy wind kites which I only use when its blowing a steady 20kts. I used to use the bob lewis but they dont dry fast in the event that you dunk one, and you have to have like 10 kites on the boat for a tourney. With the top guns you can get by with 2 on just about every day and when its blowing bring the heavy winds. its good to have one extra just in case, but I personaly like the SFE the best.

SFE
They dry fast and fly in all wind conditions. And if you're nuts, they have the heavy duty kite for +25 knot winds. Get a Kite Sac!

I fished with Billy Noll for a good time he belived in 1 kite and lots of rigger baits... Fishing with Rick Brady on the Happy Day we'd pop up two,... if the kite did not fly good it would come down in a wad of busted pieces and all you would hear is snapping sticks... Kites have come a long way! still I like the Lewis Kites. bottom line is do not dump them in the drink ..some crazy people scotch gaurd them before also...
