Adam,

You definitely do not want to fasten them to anything while in use, other than perhaps a loose safety line. You will certainly enjoy the comfort they provide to the crew, but the Captain may have to bark out orders a little louder, on ocassion. Basically, they are form fitting, so you pick up the bean bag by the handles to fluff it, and get the beans into the approximate shape you want to settle into, have a seat and form fit to yourself as the air squeezes out. Now crew will be riding in style, but don't forget a cold beer beer before sitting down.

Sometimes you may need to fasten them with lines or a bungy, for fast moving vessels or when exposed to strong winds, bow, upper deck, dock, etc.

They grip the deck quite well and should not be prone to slide on you, unless you plan on rolling more than 35 degrees. :

They might even make decent flotation devices, in a pinch: but haven't got to try that feature yet

After a few years, you may need to add some more beans as they seem to deflate a little over time. (Either that or the kids got into mine and dispensed with some of the beans. )

thanks guys,

I was thinking of using them as a alternative seating, they would be out the way of the cockpit,
( look for the green here in the top right) there will be a 4 rod launcher set in the center but no where comfy to sit and watch the lines..... the boat would be used primarily for charter and the clients dont need to be up and moving about when trollling only need to spring into action then the lines are tight.

On another note that boat with the pair of 230hp yanmars is a BEAST. stil havent opened it up yet but around we are nearing the 30kt mark.....

In that case you should not get the bean bags, unless you mount trigger controlled spring ejectors into the bean bags, for your clients.
