Default Wind on Swivels

Anybody have any experience with these? How are they with clearing rings and rollers? They look very small, but with serious strength...

They are strong , the only thing is when you go to the heavy leader end you still have to crimp, and the crimp won't pass through the guides. Even if you went from Bimini to windon with the swivel it's still easier to go loop to loop.
If you experimented by using a light leader say 100 pound and 30 feet long you can probably tie a good knot that will pass through the guides, mainline to windon swivel tied to 30 feet of 100 pound leader to hook.

I do a lot of chunking for yellowfin. Because we tie the hook right to the mainline I was going to try those same swivels to eliminate line twist. Capt. Ken if you had that experience I think I will just keep trolling out the twist at the end of the day.

Default Perhaps a twin spectra loop to connect to wind-on swivel?

I''ve got some of these in my tackle box but haven''t used them yet, since I almost always am using a ball bearing snap swivel.

But after seeing these posts, (and assuming these swivels do not fail - it seemed like Capt. Ken''s situation was a cut from the swivel eye), If I were to put these into use, I would be inclined to create a finger trap and terminal loop from my main line to the wind-on swivel. From there you could attach a wind-on leader of any desirable test by the same method.

Since the spectra/dacron braid is opaque in the water, I would probably use a 50 ft. wind-on of flourocarbon or pink nylon mono for this application. (like when fishing for finicky tunas)

Thanks guys for that inquiry because that just opened up my eyes for a solution of how I can rig my rods when I need to downsize my standard 200 lb. wind-on leader and snap-swivel to a more stealthy and thinner leader while retaining the wind-on benefit. RT

P.S. - I believe that these wind-on swivels are ideally suited for a rod with all roller guides and the (over-size) or wind-on style rollers.

I have heard many stories of the sharp edges cutting line, they are not for me.
