Default J or Circle hooks

Everyone that I talk to seems to use either a single or double J hook rig for squid. Anyone have input on circle hook usage for dead squid rigging?

im pretty sure most people us a 9-11/0 J hook.

Mustad 7691, 7731, 7732 or 7698B.

Owner Jobu is awesome and really expensive. Most people use single hooks.

Joe, I have only foul hooked one on circle hooks, plenty on Js. I like them because it reduces the chance of missing fish. 2, the hook usually winds up in the jaw latch which is the hardest part of the mouth. Ever since my Roland Martin wannabe blew 10 shots in one night, I've done strictly circle hooks.

The technique is pretty simple. I fish the lines straight out of the rod holder with release clips looped around the rod. If the clip pops or starts to slide down the rod, all the angler has to do is reel tight. Voila, fish on.

Yes, we occasionally still pull hooks later, but not as much as with J-hooks. As always my disclaimer applies: This is what works for me and in no way impugnes anybody else's way of doing things. I like to keep things simple.

BTW Joe, my Guana trip just cancelled so I'm available Saturday night if you need a hand. Mitch

Thanks for the imput ! I'm going to give both a try to find out for myslf. I have already boated 3 fish so far 1) #155 , 2) #110 & 3) #65, they all hit the j hook set up no takers on the circle hooks set ups (no misses either but still no fish). I'll keep trying. Soon I'll be the expert. Thanks guys.
