Lure best "small fish" bait

in the cayman islands we use do alot of fishing for "small fish" (grunts, parrotfish, small snappers, etc.) i use conch guts only when conchs are in season though and it works like a charm. (disclaimer: attain this bait at your own risk. check your local marine unit 2 find out the seasons, and once again, i am from the cayman islands so my methods may not work for you)

Lawyer66:

Welcome to this site.

BTW - How is the conch population doing in your area?

As you may know, Florida has been on moratorium for a about 30 years now. I do not recall when they cut the limit to Zero. You would think that they would have restocked by now but it is not the case.

Bahamas is demonstrating concerns as well.

Yeah, we use to use the conch entrails as bait too. We would chop it into small pieces and mix it into a bucket of Bahamas beach sand along with some other stuff. Sand balls away.

squid is always a fantastic bait.... I'd go with it any day if conch is unavailable...
