You can dig bottom for jewfish or troll for marlin. It's not the greatest big game reel, but it holds a lot of line, and will last a long time. You can get kits for them to turn them into a PennAccurate, basically an accurate drag system and frame which is the cream of the crop when it comes to conventional reels. This will increase your drag, and durability of the reel and give you a thousand dollar reel for a third the price. It's a very versatile reel, I use my 9/0 for big sharks and jewfish mostly.

Great reel for the money. They have been the workhorse reels for all the charter boats I worked for in the old pier five. I use mine for grouper trolling, the reef and wahoo fishing. They are spooled with 100 pound test monel wire great reels, never had any problems with them only replace drag washers.they are set up on 920 xp electra mate reels.

Have fun! DL
