This is Capt. Mike Able of Able Minded Charters reporting for Haddrell's Point. Fishing has been excellent for the past week. We have had a little rain and wind but the bite has still been on. On Monday we probably caught close to fifteen reds and about a dozen trout in just a few hours. We caught our reds with many different baits. The first few reds that we caught we caught using mud minnows under a float. We later on pulled up right off the waterway and put some live and cut mullet on the bottom and started to tear up the reds. Three of the redfish were smaller but the rest were all over ten pounds providing a great battle. We were lucky enough to find the reds still pushing shrimp against the bank. They were tailing so it made it an incredibly easy target. I decided to throw a topwater plug in front of them. It was amazing to see the reaction. They blew up on that plug so hard. I caught three using a Zara Spook Jr. As the tide came in we decided to trout fish. We started throwing DOA shrimp under a cajun thunder popping cork. We managed to round up some trout with a glow color shrimp with gold glitter at the bottom. We were using the 1/4oz size shrimp. The weather was beautiful that day and the action was pretty hot. I did a trip with the guys from a local newspaper called the Moultrie News. There should also be some pictures on the same site if anyone wants to check it out. Calm seas and tight lines to everyone!!
