Vinny,
The good are going to be sacrificed as collateral damage and when you do that to the majority of the population you assure yourself of never getting re-elected for anything again. It's pretty sad that with all the "great minds" in DC they could not come up with a single plan that would leave you alone if you liked what you had but instead want you to become a pawn of the bureacracy with of all things the health and well being of your body, and look who you are being sacrificed for! If it weren't so serious it would almost be laughable. Harry |

That's right we don't need any health care reform at all in this country.
We spend twice as much on health care here per person but we are way down in the list on health metrics like average lifespan and infant deaths. Every week there are good people raising money for people who have had terrible accidents and in many cases have health insurance but still can not afford the bills. A Harvard study in 2005 and other more recent studies have pointed out that 60% of bankruptcies are related to medical bills (though this number will now be lower due to real estate foreclosures+), see (see Medical bills prompt more than 60 percent of U.S. bankruptcies - CNN.com) But we don't need health care reform even if proper health care from birth can save health care $$ in the long-term. Take a look at Best Jobs in America 2009 - High pay: Median salary - Money Magazine on CNNMoney.com and what professions are in the top 4 spots for highest median salary? We should just keep rewarding insurance companies executives with free cruises for throwing sick people out of the hospital and cutting costs. We don't have the money to take care of sick people in this country, we need the $$$ for our military. Let the sick kids go to the ER and let cash-strapped cities pay for them. It is all about priorities. cheers, O

Arthur, chill, no one here is saying we don't need health care reform, WE DO, we just should not spend one trillion + (I can assure you the + is another zero) in a reform that is going to increase the government and increases taxes during a recession. we could have a reform of only the parts that are needed instead of a total overhaul....
you talk about the children all the time, the bill that is in congress now ELIMINATES the child care programs that exist today by 2013..... I am up to page 1012 of this bill, I can only read it after hours so I doubt I will finish it before the vote on Saturday but I really dislike what I am reading.... |
