Not sure if you remember things right John. First off can you blame Nixon for not liking the media after he lost to JFK the way he did. Talk about Nixon as a crook but he was a very good president that cared about this country. Yeah and Carter lost to Reagan not Bush 1.

Oops...still Carter lost due to media blasting his Iran embassy crisis.

Nixon a " very good President "...oh my god. How old were you then ? 2 ? Seriously if you believe that group of CROOKS,LIARS,etc. led by a Paranoid Head Case who would have destroyed democracy as we know it, but for the media, were good for the country no wonder you don't like the media, or democrats.

2 is about right. Do you really think that the Obama admin is any less of a group of bad guys then Nixon? Nixon did not do anything previous or later admin did not do except he got caught.

Lets see besides watergate what did he do?Lets start with revenue sharing, ending the draft, more stringent anti-crime laws, and a broad environmental program. He appointed conservative Supreme Court justices William Rehnquist and Harry Blackmun. During visits to Beijing and Moscow, he reduced tensions with China and the U.S.S.R. His summit meetings with Russian leader Leonid I. Brezhnev produced a treaty to limit strategic nuclear weapons. He was instrumental in ending the Vietnam Conflict.

Watergate pales in comparison to today's partisan dirty deeds. If it wasn't for that one lapse in judgment, Nixon would have been considered one of our better presidents.

WAAAA, WAAA, WAAA, WAAAA, you guys need to find something a lot
more meaty to whine about because there has been no censorship,
no reporters being kicked out of the WH Press Pool, no gov't take-over
of news reports, no one has been jailed, the IRS is not looking up
Rush's, Sean's, or BECK'S butt with a microscope, .....

I'm surprised that no one is here blasting the First Lady for hula
hooping.

I don't recall of any real censorship by a president or his people since
Hunter S Thompson was thrown off of the reporter's plane during the
1972 presidential campaign by Nixon's boy; they didn't like the Nixon face
mask he was wearing and what he had printed about tricky dick.

I hope to see all of you tonight at the HHSSSC meeting for
cheers, O

"some of you"?
I hope I am welcome at the HHSSSC.... I am in the opposite direction today (Melbourne), but I'll try to make it to the next one so we can put names to faces....

I really do hope all of you can make it but my analytical side tells me
hoping for some is more realistic.

Sammy, I hope you can make it to one of the meetings, we don't talk
politics 'till the after meeting get together at my house. I get bombarded with a lot of email
from my right-wing friends and relative; I'm surprised that
no one has posted the "NEW" ant and grasshopper fable, yet.

cheers, O

JT, not that you need any assistance. Life is too crazy lately trying to finish a textbook with a 12/31 deadline so not too much time to play and let's face
it, most of these Obama are not worthy of a reply, , except I do
agree with the majority here, we need to get rid of these politicians from office in 2010 and 2012, and make politics honest again with just one term
politicians who do not need lobbyists' $$$. cheers, O

Fred I see you have nothing to say about my other thread about what Holder did!! I thought you would be all over that. Did you ever meet Nixon? I did and it is something I am proud of. I met him when I was a little kid and again in the late 80s.

Default Obama to cut Executives salary by 90%

By: Stephen Labaton
The New York Times

Responding to the growing furor over the paychecks of executives at companies that received billions of dollars in the government’s financial rescue, the Obama administration will order the companies that received the most aid to deeply slash the compensation to their highest paid executives, an official involved in the decision said on Wednesday. Under the plan, which will be announced in the next few days by the Treasury Department, the seven companies that received the most assistance will have to cut the annual salaries of their 25 best-paid executives by an average of about 90 percent from last year. Their total compensation — including bonuses and retirement contributions — will drop, on average, by about 50 percent. The companies are Citigroup, Bank of America, American international Group, General Motors, Chrysler and the financing arms of the two automakers.

Don't tell me that you live and let live Liberals agree with the Government dictating the salaries of private companies? Bailout or no bailout. Talk about a sure fire way to lose management. Where will it stop? Will everyone who gets Federal assistance or relies on Government contracts be held to salary caps? Sure does smell of Socialism to me. Maybe they should start by examining the Welfare system, assistance to families should have a cap of 2 children. This way Momma don't get a raise everytime she spits out another burden on society.

Why would I think you would be all over Holder issue. Did you see my post about what Holder and the DOJ did? If you did and did not get offended then I am at a loss.

Vinny-arent bonuses related to performance? If they are doing so well running their company that they need government bailout money, maybe they dont deserve their bonuses???? From a taxpayers perspective, its bad enough that we help some poorly run companies survive, but why are we also bonusing their top execs????

Cut the pay of the exec's that received bailout money BUT if those institutions pay the bailout money back then they can pay their exec's whatever they want.

As far as the topic of this thread, this was released today. Here is some of the coverage, as the full article was too long to paste on here....

The Obama administration on Thursday failed in its attempt to manipulate other news networks into isolating and excluding Fox News, as Republicans on Capitol Hill stepped up their criticism of the hardball tactics employed by the White House.

The Obama administration on Thursday tried to make "pay czar" Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member of the White House pool except Fox News. The pool is the five-network rotation that for decades has shared the costs and duties of daily coverage of the presidency.

But the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks consulted and decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox News was included.

The administration relented, making Feinberg available for all five pool members and Bloomberg TV.

The pushback came after White House senior adviser David Axelrod told ABC News' "This Week" on Sunday that Fox News is not a real news organization and other news networks "ought not to treat them that way."

Media analysts cheered the decision to boycott the Feinberg interview unless Fox News was included, saying the administration's gambit was taking its feud with Fox News too far. President Obama has already declined to go on "Fox News Sunday," even while appearing on the other Sunday shows.

"I'm really cheered by the other members saying "No, if Fox can't be part of it, we won't be part of it,'" said Baltimore Sun TV critic David Zurawik, calling the move to limit Feinberg's availability "outrageous."

"What it's really about to me is the Executive Branch of the government trying to tell the press how it should behave. I mean, this democracy -- we know this -- only works with a free and unfettered press to provide information," he said.

Richard,

Did you miss this part:

"the seven companies that received the most assistance will have to cut the annual salaries of their 25 best-paid executives by an average of about 90 percent from last year"

I would assume that an "annual salary" is a predetermined figure for the job discription. Cut it by 90% and see how many of those guy's stick around. One only has to look at Politics to see that we get what we pay for, a $100k salary will hardly bring the brightest and best corperate managers to the table. Think those companies have problems now, just wait and watch. This will only breed more coruption.
