Default Welcome to no god in America

Georgetown University hid a religious inscription representing the name of Jesus during President Obama's address there Tuesday, FOXNews.com has confirmed, because White House staff asked the school to cover up all religious symbols and signs while the president was on stage.

Could it be that our great leader who is a Muslim...oohps, I mean Christian, is really a person of no faith whatsoever??? Who knows??? Maybe he is Satan and being around religious inscriptions and symbols would materialize his horns and forked tail for all to see.......

Probably due to the separation of Church and State.

Yet he was sworn in on a Bible...

I believe the Founders intended this to be a religious nation and a Christian nation. They also recognized that freedom of religion is a critical component of a free nation and one of the best safeguards of that political freedom we all hold so dear. Unfortunately, a small minority of people use the phrase "separation of church and state" as a bludgeon to try to remove any and all official reference to religion. If the Founders had intended that, then they obviously would never have written things like "We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator..." It is quite the opposite. By showing that the inherent worth and freedom of the individual was a God-given right, it raised the individual's rights and status above that of any government law or decree (hence the "separation of church and state" as any state-organized church would quickly become politicized and begin to serve the interests of the state instead of the flock, see Church of England for an example). In effect, our nation in its birth was legitimized by the recognition of the supremacy by the Grace of God of the individual over his government.

All pretty cool stuff!

I don't think this is always the reasoning for a separation of church and state. I think many believe that in a country where the individual has the right to choose their religion/belief system, it is wrong to legislate the morality of one religion/belief system. Everyone has the right to pursue whatever religion they identify with.

Just my 0.02
