Default Favorite restaurant in S. Palm Beach County?

I am looking for restaurants to visit between Boynton Beach and Boca Raton...anybody have their favorites they want to promote?

I am a freelance restaurant reviewer/writer for the Sun-Sentinel...been doing this for almost a year/40 pounds now.

The reviews are printed on Fridays in the Lifestyle section, and are also available online at South Florida Sun-Sentinel: Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade news, sports, jobs, cars and real estate -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

I used to cover all of Palm Beach county, but the S-S whittled down the territory a bit to only cover 'South County'. In the last few months I have written up (among many others):

2 Georges, Boynton
Snappers, Boynton
Bonefish grill, Boynton
Old Calypso, Delray
Sushi Rock, Boca
Sushi Thai, Boca
the Blue Anchor, Delray
J&J's Seafood Bar, Delray
Quarterdeck, Boynton
Kee Grille, Boca
Abe & Louie's, Boca
Opus 5, Boca
Henry's, Delray
Cucina D'angelo, Delray
Saba (sushi), Boca
Coal Mine Pizza, Boca
PF Chang's, Boca
Fran's Chicken Haven, Boca
Wowies Sports grill, Boca

I am running out of ideas for places to review....anyone have suggestions?

Just go back to Sushi Rock there is no other - Noi is the man. He ahould be famous - sometime you should come there and get the real experience.

Other than that my favorite local restaurants:
Whales Rib
Bonefish Macs
but they are not in Palm Beach - slight over the boarder

Best Cheestake Subs
- Zio's on Military and Atlantic (delray)
- DBest Subs off yamato (Pilgrim is da bomb)
- place on corner of Sample and Federal just west

Best Subs
- V & S Deli on Federal in Boca

Mexican
- Baja on traintracks

Best Breakfast Hands Down
- Boca Breakfast Club in Royal Palm - shit is unreal get the Stuffed French Toast or Any Omelette
*sometimes takes awhile to get food

Another good breakfast restaurant
Tom Sawyer in Boca on 2 ave/boca blvd just north of Glades

Best Breakfast Sandwhich
- Bacon Egg and Cheese - Flakowitz on 20th and Federal

Best Expensive Restaurant
- 32 East

Let me know if you need help eating at any of these places

Casa D'Angelo on Palmetto Park Road. They took the best chef from the Fort Lauderdale restaurant and put him Boca. It is simply the best.

Sushi Ray, IMHO, has the best (freshest) sushi in the area.

Have to 2nd Tom Sawyer for the breakfast place, but have heard great things about the breakfast club and have to go their.

I am not sure about Whales Rib at this time. They were excellent a few years ago, however, they have gone down hill since they asked George and his son to leave. They do have the best bloody marry though.

32 East is consistently the best dining experience in South Palm beach county. You didnt list it as reviewed.

There is a small Itallian restaurant in Boynton on Ocean Ave across from the Banana boat called Cafe Frankies that we have really been enjoying recently. They have the usual italian food done well and then some specials and unusual stuff like cedar plank baked panko crusted calamari. I had short ribs last week that were unreal!

There is a new steak house in Delray that is where Splendid Blended used to be. I was there in August and had a good but expensive meal. Cant think of the name at this moment.

I like Blue Fin in Boca for Sushi. I have not been to sushi rock yet but I hear great things.

Casa D'Angelo is on Military in Boca unless they moved recently.

Favorite restaurant in south Florida- Cafe Max in Pompano. Everything is great! - Go there and have their Sashimi pizza appetizer. You will get another for dinner!!

The Cove restaurant in Boca has very good food and great atmosphere.

A great breakfast place, on the edge of Boynton and Lake Worth, is the Cup & Saucer. Very good food and very fast service. Usually in and out in a half hour at the most. (eggs Benedict is really good).

I ate at the Ceviche House the other day on Federal in Boca. Huge portions, very fresh seafood, and great ceviche.

Don, I saw the the revue of Sushi Rock. I didn't know that was you!! That place...well...rocks!! You should check out the place AG mentioned on sample and just west of federal. You could practically walk there??!!
I was picking up some fish from a friend that lives a few blocks east of your boat, at least I think it was your boat. Do you go to the sword meetings?? You could practically walk there too

Your best bet for writing a review would be the Boca Breakfast Club - that place is like an untapped secret - there is no comparison for Breakfast - just takes FOREVER sometimes to get your food.

The Ceviche House is decent too - I have eaten there before

Mississippi Sweets - probably the best barbecue restaurant in Boca but I like their pulled pork sandwiches, etc better than the actual barbecue -sweet potato fries are the bomb - they are on Federal North of 20th St

Best wings - Boca Wings N' Things - not sure what its actually called now - but it is on North side corner of 20th and Federal - if you like hot wings - get the Doc sauce

Actually, while your in that area - Senor Burrito - I eat there for lunch all the time and they never dissapoint - great food and great service -

I will try to think of some more - makes me hungry though - might have to go see Noi today

Thumbs up Thanks to all that responded to my post!

A-Grand, Sushi Rock was published 2 weeks ago...I definitely gave them props!

I concur with Wahooman re: the Whale's Rib...I was a longtime fan, (especially when they run the Rock Shrimp dinners), but the last time I went, I had called ahead to ask about the wait...they told me about 15-25 minutes. So rounded up the wife an kids, plus out of town guest, and dealt with the traffic and lack of parking (paid at the pier)to get there. I was told at the door that the wait is about an hour and a half and that they had been busy all night. When I stated I had called 20 minutes prior, the host just laughed, and a passing server chined in with a rather unpleasant attitude and insulting demanor. Haven't been back since....I don't condone b.s.ing people on the phone to try to keep the place full.

D'Best cheesesteaks!!!! mmm! Originally from PA, I appreciae that the Philly style is authentic...onions and cheese-whiz! that is d'bomb

I will definitely try the Boca B-F club! Flakowitz came up on my re-visit list (places are eligible for revisits every 2 years).

I have been to Tom Sawyer many times, but not on an "official visit"...great idea...I will definitely give them a write up.

32 East sounds interesting....another great tip.

Doc B: Cafe Frankies sounds like the kind of place that I would love to write about...small, understated, with a local following...look for that one to get a write up soon!

I visited Casa D'angelo on Military about 5 months ago...the food was excellent, and service 1st rate...but a littel on the high end of the price scale....(but worth it)

MNeputune: cup and saucer sounds interesting!

Shockwave: Where exactly is Ceviche house? I am always game for seafood...even if I didn't catch it!

Night Crawler....Thanks! yes that is my boat in LHP, but it is a friend's house, he let's me keep it there..I live in SW Boca. I have been trying to get to a sword club meeting, however I am active with the SOB's (Sport fishermen of Broward) and we always seem to have a meeting on the night before the sword clubs'. With 2 little ones at home, I cannot get too much liberty time...but I'll get there yet!

Thanks again to all for all the leads!

I do this once a week...watch for PM's from me...I can always take a few guests along to help get a good cross section of the menu!

If you want to go to Frankies or 32 East, Id be happy to accompany you. We are well known and received at both places. I'll even bring some good wine!

The Irishmen restaurant (pub) in Boca. 2nd Ave north of glades south of 20th, west side. near tom sawyer's. it's our rugby bar, so i'm kind of biased, but it really is great food. and beer selection. And the prices will be to everyone's liking. The owner's name is Mark and his wife, Pam, made the menu. She is a professional chef and caterer. Go on a Thursday night when the rugby teams show up for the real experience.

The Angelo restaurant on Military Trail is Cucina D'Angelo. The Casa D'Angelo restaurant on Palmetto is just east of Federal in the old Luna Paza site. It is as expensive as the one on Military the food quality is better.
