I just started on this forum a while back, but I recognized you from the Sailfish forum I'm on a lot. Seems like you're the man when it comes to swording/deep dropping, so I'd like some advice if you don't mind.

I'm looking into buying an electric setup for deep dropping (rod and reel). I currently have a Penn Senator 114H, and have found some deals on elecra mates for it, but I don't know if it has the capacity/power for pulling up stringers from 1000+. I'm on a budget, under $1200. Also, I don't plan on using it for swords, if that makes a difference. What rod/reel combo would you recommend? Is it a bad idea to buy used ones on ebay or through forums? Lastly, I have seen a few people who use more commercial looking setups that aren't terribly expensive, like this one: Welcome to DeepDrop What are do you think? Sorry to swamp you with a ton of questions, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
