Best spot and boat Costa or Guatemala

A friend is looking for a trip to Costa or Guatemala in Jan.Any one have a spot or boat to recommend?

OK. I am a little biased because of having a boat in Golfito, CR. But, trying to be very honest. If you want only sails Guat. is better day in day out. we can get the numbers of sails that Guat. has but not every day. But, we have better marlin and tuna fishing, plus rooster, dorado, wahoo. For example in a normal Jan. day in Golfito you may see 15-20 sails with one or two shots at marlin probally with a eating fish or two thrown in. In Guat. you will get probally 25- 30 shots at sails maybe a dorado if your lucky and that is pretty much it. You can to a booking agency that handles both places and see what they say. Just remember though if they get more of a comission from one place or another all of the sudden that place has better fishing. Good luck!

If in Guatemala, Captain Hook, with Ron Hamlin. My buddy has fished with him several times and highly recommends him. Nice guy, I met him at the Miami Boat Show. He needs pens to write with. I guess he has a hard time getting them down there. I have fished Costa Rica a few years ago out of Los Suenos on a private boat. We fished there and went down to Golfito. Both were outstanding with Sailfish, Yellowfin, and Wahoo. Unfortunately, I don't know any charter boats to recommend.
