Default thats like when everyone started fishing marsh harbor...

everyone wanted to see what the record dolphin was because we even caught one that we weighed close but no cookie.... BUT ... here is the deal, even with the record that stands now I actually seen a dolphin 'the dolphin' .. weighed in at the sponge dock scales (and after sitting gutted in a fish box for over 24 hrs on ice) the commercial fishermen's fish ran the scale at 91lbs! yes my hats off to old fishermen that caught stuff and found stuff that 'we' always try to put other peoples name on so somebody can look good. by the way the world records still in the 80lb range... ya think that old man may look at people funny when they leave his fish out?? by the way that fish was caught on a penn 6/0...black face reel. and we think we are special sometimes..

Marco, great picture, thanks for sharing. Do you have any details on how that fish was caught? Was it rod and reel and what kind of tackle? How many hours was the fight? Did one angler fight it or did they trade off. As Ted says pictures like this one humble you when you consider some of the great catches that arent reported and arent in the record books.

Vitória (Brasil) was the stage for two fishing world records: the largest Blue Marlin “ever” caught, weighing 636 kg, caught in 1992; and the largest White Marlin, weighing 82.5 kg, caught in 1979.

some few details such as : was caught with a live bonito on an hand line !!!!! then they attached the line to their boat and got trolled for long hours before to land the guy..the boat was a professional fishing local wood construction .
some thing like this one but smaller as it was in the 60`s ..this one is a 40 feet.i believe in 60`s was a 30/32 footer only ?? but not sure.

That is the largest Atlantic blue marlin on rod and reel. There was an 1,800lb blue marlin caught on rod and reel on Cornelius Choy's boat in Hawaii years ago, but the rod was handled by more than one person so it was DQed from the record books.
