We caught a 30 pound shortbilled spearfish on the 409 hump off of Islamorada, on Tuesday. It hit a Seawitch/ballyhoo combo with a bird in front, the fish was released unharmed. Is this a very common catch for the Keys? My dad has fished the area many times before, and has never heard of or seen a spearfish caught in the Keys. We fish the area every chance we get and never even knew you find them there. Do many people catch them their??
