Green Swordfish 500 pound Blue off of Miami

Saw this article on the tournament this past weekend the Mayor's Cup out of Coconut Grove, Florida. They caught a 500 blue off of Miami in just 150 feet incredible. Thought I'd share it with you guys. They are out there this is the second one they catch off of Miami. I believe the first one was caught by one of our own members on SFC not too long ago.. I'm going to ready to drag some lures out there and some live bait see if I get fortunate.

The story:

Although the Mayor's Cup is primarily a sailfish tournament, there are other billfish which do count in the scoring. "4 Aces" out of Miami Beach got one of their releases off of an estimated 500-pound blue marlin. The marlin was caught and released by Jimmy David in 150 feet of water just off of Miami. The catch was even more incredible as the tackle being used was a 20-pound outfit. "She ate a gog [goggle-eye bait] on the long line," explained Debbi David, Jimmy's wife. "She stayed behind the boat for a long time as we backed down on her. It was a beautiful experience."

Yea this is a very amazing catch. What suprised me the most was they were in only 150 feet of water and what a fight on just 20lb outfit.

The depth doesn't bother marlin if there's bait around... but on 20 lb test.... now THAT is a feat!

I saw the fish, they were 100yrd from me. The fish stayed on top and they got the quick release. What a great site. They were in there feeding on small blackfins.
