SFC What to do with the whites

This past summer in Islamorada, we were dolphin fishing and we kept seeing these whiteys jumping around us. we would go over there and it would be gone. what should we do to get over there, or predict where they are going?

I'll venture to say that whities are more like sails than they are like blues, with the added bonus that they like to eat and spit baits repeatedly. Beat your head against a wall, put out a hardtail, and see what happens.

I know this is late but I used to fish North Carolina for whites in the summer. If you see whites, let me know and I can tell you exactly how to catch him. They are 10 times as finicky as sailfish.... usually.... but if you target them, they're not difficult to catch and the rank as one of my favorites

Id fish naked swimming ballyhoo, get rid of the lures and extra garbage. They are picky eaters.

No, your not late Teddy.

It has only been seven months.

I am sure the fish he was seeing are still there.

naked dinks back off the drag(just enough to keep it from backlashing )and when olwhitey fires up on the bait give him a 4 to 6 count .If you have any drag on the reel when he picks up the bait he WILL DROP IT.Dinks on the flats, long rigger, long shot gun.

Bonito, strips is what they like. I rig them on light wire #022 and put a small white feather on top. They also like small rigged swimming mullet.

I heard that whites are suckers for a mullet dredge right up behind the boat...

it doesn't have to be mullet, ballyhoo work fine too but dredges are good.... the key is finding them, If they're around you don't need all the tricks soo badly. Naked dink baits are the best by far. If you want color, put a kingbuster in front of it but no more. They like em' plain
