Default Boca & Boynton Bait??

Have been seeing alot of small 3" - 4" sardines at the Boynton & Boca inlets and along the beaches. Has anyone seen the large pilchard schools? Just have not come across the big pilchard schools yet this year. What have you noticed?

Thanks.

Ran into some big pilchards @ the ocean ave bridge last week. Wouldn't you rather have the dines anyhow?

Personally, I like to have a mixed bag of live baits for inshore and offshore trips..... but in the end I'll take whatever I can get. Just not seeing the bait schools this year that I have seen in the past.

Baits in Boca are not holding where they used to. You have to search for them. In addition, the constant bombardment by 10-12' nets drive them away/keeps them moving. If you were a bait and had lead raining down on your head, you would move to a spot where you can escape the danger too. Try the pier before daybreak.

Seems to me they are north of here right now. Seeing good #'s on the beach Stuart and North. Should be here soon.

I have heard that the big schools are holding north right now. Can't wait for more bait to head down this way. There is a certain ritual that I have been doing August / Sept for years involving big snook, blackfin tuna, dolphin & wahoo with other mixed bag swimmers all in the cooler by 1:00 pm. Hope to continue the streak this year....

Spent two evenings last year in early september just throwing the cast net @ bynton inlet. Took hours to bag and freeze all the bait. Didn't buy sardines again till after march the following year. Lookin forward to some of that same hot action, that follows the schools. Cobes, and kings have been thick off the beach north. Hopin to see that action here in the next couple weeks.
